Unbelievable

This is from the Buffalo News:

Woman’s wallet stolen in hospital lounge area

A woman told Buffalo police her wallet was taken from a lounge area in Women and Children’s Hospital on Sunday.

The incident happened at about 4:30 p. m., according to a police report.

The victim told police she put down her wallet, walked away, and it was gone when she returned.

It contained $700 in cash, a credit card, a driver’s license and other personal papers.

Really? Did this woman really think it was safe to leave her wallet out in the open in a public place in the city of Buffalo? Especially in a hospital with people wandering all around? *shaking head*

She probably left it there by accident after setting it down. I swear, newspaper write-ups purposely try to make people look like idiots. I once set down a camera in a bank Washington, D.C., and walked away. Naturally, I didn't expect it to still be there, but I still ran back looking. If I had reported it as stolen, then the newspaper in D.C. could've written me up as a teenage girl who told police that I put down my camera, walked away, and it was gone when I returned.

Why would anybody be carrying $700 around in their wallet in cash?
