Sick of the Crap

Literally! James has had diarrhea (I'm a pro at spelling that now) for almost two full weeks now and I'm already soooooo over it. I got up this morning to find I needed to strip his crib and wash his sheets, pillow, and blanket....AGAIN! This is like the 4th time I've had to do this. The kid went right into the tub.

No-I haven't spoken with his pediatrician but if he's not over it by this weekend, I'll be making a phone call on Monday. Now don't criticize me...from talking with other moms, and the reading I've done in all my "expert" books I don't think there is anything that can be done except to let it run its course. Ha pun intended! He is not dehydrated, his appetite is normal, and he has no fever or vomiting. We cut out milk (albeit soy or oat) and have tried the BRAT(bananas, rice, apple, toast) diet. We may get a diaper or two of improvement and then back to the yuck. I am certain it is not Rotavirus because he doesn't have any other symptoms (although he may not exhibit any other symptoms) but that is why I will call the Doctor on Monday to be sure.

I will be annoyed if that could be what the deal is as he's been vaccinated for it. I wonder if there are different strains of it as there are different strains of the flu?

In any case. If anyone has any good tips or methods on clearing it up-I'm open to suggestions.

I think that as long as he's not showing a fever, and he's still peein', then he'll be ok. Just keep doing what you're doing and try to hang in there, I know it's miserable for both of you. As the saying goes... sh** happens!

Old Chinese remedy. Prunes.

P.S. I'm glad I read this post just as I was sitting down to my KFC mashed potatoes.

Seriously? Prunes help diarrhea? I thought they caused it.

Yes, they do. That was the burn.
