Terms of Endearment
While in the shower I was thinking about the negative sounding names people call little kids like little buggers or brats. Then I switched to thinking about more positive pet names like peanut, buddy, or rugrat. I guess I'm slow because it suddenly dawned on me how totally NOT positive the term "rugrat" is. I thought about the popular Nickelodeon television cartoon and wondered how they got away with THAT for 13 years?

i grew up with my dad calling us all sorts of names... the most common was "roach coach." stupid.
of course, this is the same man who thinks it's funny to call my sister-in-law that she is a bad mother... yep, as a joke. (sigh)
Hmmm, I've never thought of "bugger" as negative sounding, but "rugrat" has always had a negative connotation for me. Weird, huh?
